Alpha Boys School is a residential vocational home for at-risk boys in Kingston, Jamaica, serving in this capacity since the 19th century. Since 1890 Alpha Boys School has been administered by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic order of nuns. Alpha’s music program is internationally known for graduating respected vocalists Winston ‘Yellowman’ Foster and Leroy Smart as well as instrumentalists Jo Jo Harriot, Leroy ‘Horsemouth’ Wallace and Don Drummond to name just a few. In addition to music, Alpha Boys School offers its students a number of vocations including agriculture, woodworking and tailoring.

Young men in Alpha’s care call Alpha Boys School home until they are 18 years old. The Government of Jamaica provides fifty percent of the total monthly expense of caring for Alpha boys.
